Yoga teaches that you are made of 5 Layers
The Pancha Maya Koshas:- From the physical body to the deepest parts of your being, developing an understanding these layers can transform your practice. With this understanding you will find that the effect of yoga is more than the just the physical.

The 5 Layers of Human Existence

  • Annamaya Kosha – The Physical Body (The Layer made of Food & Matter. Your Muscles, Bones, organs and senses, strengthened through asana, movement and diet)
  • Pranamaya Kosha – The Energy Body (The life force energy that animates you. Governs breath, circulation and vitality, Balanced through pranayama & breath awareness)
  • Manomaya Kosha – The Mental Body ( Thoughts, memories & sensory input. The narratives you tell yourself, Developed through concentration & meditation)
  • Vijnanamaya Kosha – The Wisdom Body (The inner guide beyond thought. Intuition, feelings & deep understanding , supported through self-study & reflection)
  • Anandamaya Kosha – The Bliss Body (The deepest part of you, pure Joy & peace. Felt in moments of stillness, love, and deep presence. This is not something to Achieve, But something to remember, when you practice yoga, you nourish ALL layers of yourself.
